Jeff Tweedy quipped that he felt like “a ringer in a wet t-shirt contest” only shortly after Wilco started during a humid and damp night at Brown’s Island in Richmond, VA on August 18th. The weather, however, took nothing away from an energetic and rousing performance by both Sleater-Kinney and Wilco.
After more than a year of streaming @stuffinnhourhouse (videos of Jeff Tweedy’s family on instagram) during the pandemic, Wilco recently returned to touring. The six-piece started with the relevant rocker “A Shot In The Arm”, and then marched through 18 other songs that covered material from almost every album from the band. Sleater-Kinne now features four touring musicians to accompany Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker so their sound has expanded dramatically since their power trio days.
