LISTEN: They Owe Us Deliver Power Pop Chops On “I’m Your Biggest Fan”

After touring in Europe and USA, it was time for Swedish music collective, They Owe Us to cut the second album. At this point, they owe us naturally reformed, with Kristoffer Ragnstam – known for decades for his DIY-attitude and gritty productions – taking on the producer and composer role and Anders Rane as main co-writer and musician. Along with Rane, well-known names such as Timo Räisänen, Andé Laos, Markus Hasselblom, Per Eklund and Klabbe Hörngren (Klabbes Bank) joined the gang of co-writers, and skilled musicians such as IZHAV, Adam Bolméus (Hästpojken) Axel Sjöberg (Graveyard), Jennifer Israelsson (Hot Breath), Viktor Turegård (Franska Trion), and Joel Lundberg have contributed in their own way to they owe us unique soundscape.

Check out the beautifully strange new single, “I’m Your Biggest Fan” from They Owe Us. Two evocative vocal lines layer each other in front of a warm lo-fi and reverberated drum beat.” I’m Your Biggest Fan” is a sentimental and spacious power-pop number that chimes with Beatlesque harmonies and swaggering bravado.

Here comes the simple but true story about ”I’m Your Biggest Fan.” During a late evening walk between Venice and Santa Monica, I felt alienated but strangely calm at the same time. Earlier that day, I bought ’Nilsson Sings Newman’ at Surplus Records. Nilsson, the view, the lovesickness and a few drinks made me wanna cut this song. A song about things that have an extraordinary feeling in the beginning, but sort of change vibe during the experience,” says teh band.
