LISTEN: Tristan Gregory Smith Captures Essential Instrumental Touchings Via “Reverie”

Tristan Gregory Smith is a songwriter and producer from Seattle, WA. After experimenting with grunge, electronic music, and jazz, he found his footing in atmospheric, ethereal indie-pop. Gregory Smith went to school for audio electronics design, learning the ins and outs of music technology while also writing his debut album. Now based in Chicago, Tristan is leaning further into this new sound and direction.

Sink into the expressive and vocally beguiling new single “Reverie” from Tristan Gregory Smith. His voice sits atop a circular guitar pulse, infused with modern percussive elements, as “Reverie” seamlessly blends folk with contemporary instrumental touchings.

“Reverie is about looking for warmth and not finding it. I wrote it in the middle of a Chicago winter, holed up in my apartment and falling out of love. It starts out quiet and acoustic and grows into a lush indie-pop tune that softly surrounds you. I’ve also chosen to release the demo version of “Reverie” – it was recorded the night I wrote it, as soon as I had all the lyrics written in my notebook. I think it captured something important, despite the radiator clicks and the imperfections”
