On “Just A Dream” Darryl Kissick Proves Experimentally Entrancing

Darryl Kissick lives in Regina, Saskatchewan. Kissick is a member of the band Foxwarren, with friends Andy Shauf, Dallas Bryson, Colin Nealis, and Avery Kissick. “Just A Dream” is the debut single from My Sunshine, his forthcoming record out on October 8th. The album came from a long, tedious self-produced process, one that really could have had no end, except for when he stopped recording.

Check out the colorful and strange new single, “Just A Dream’‘ from Kissick. Tasteful guitar lines spin an evocative world akin to a Dirty Projectors dreamscape. Sparse and inventive, “Just A Dream” will massage your mind and sharpen your every sense, true to its title, the song plays like a meditative getaway.

“This song playfully questions the nature of our reality. Ft. Langley, who directed the official video for “Just a Dream,” picked up on that and chose to present the idea through the story of a robot’s disenchantment upon entering into society. I took a collaborative approach to this album, writing music and lyrics before sending them to my brother, Avery Kissick, who wrote and recorded drums and percussion. My friends Andrea Hedlund and Meghan Bowman then joined me on vocals.”
