Brad Pitt is a Hollywood icon and has a vast number of movies to his name. The American actor has won an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, and two Golden Globe Awards plus several awards as a producer. Pitt took acting lessons from Roy London and was awarded his first lead role in the 1988 film, The Dark Side of the Sun. Interestingly, the movie was not releases until 1997 because of the Croatian War of Independence. Pitt has since made great strides in his career and below, you will discover 5 of his best performances to date.
We start with the movie Fight Club and although perhaps not his best film role, it remains one of his most popular with fans. The chemistry he builds with Ed Norton in the film is superb and Pitt plays the role of Tyler Durden, who is a soap salesman. The two combine to setup a fight club as a way to help the narrator, played by Norton, to deal with his demons. It leads to the creation of Project Mayhem, but the narrator decides he has had enough and aims to track down Durden in a bid to stop the project. When the two argue and Durden is holding the narrator at gunpoint, it is then that he realises that he and Durden are the same person.
Moving from one strange film to another and 12 Monkeys sees Pitt take on the role of a mentally ill patient. The way he delivers his lines, so fast to keep in with the character, is extremely impressive and some of the camera angles used during the film certainly add to the performance. Some of Pitt’s lines in the movie are fantastic and he delivers them with aplomb.
Ocean’s Eleven was perhaps the first movie where Pitt was given license to loosen up a little and have some fun. Playing Robert “Rusty” Ryan, allowed Pitt to explore a different side to his acting ability and that is why Ocean’s Eleven finds a place in the top 5 performances. Each actor in the film looks like they are enjoying themselves, including Pitt, and that makes him charming to watch as opposed to being the sex symbol or an outrageous character. Ocean’s 11 is a hugely enjoyable film to watch and if you find yourself wanting to get in on the casino action, getting started at an NZ online casino is easy.Another of Pitt’s leading performances comes in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Pitt plays the role of James, and the unpredictability of the character is scary, something which Pitt brings to the screen in abundance. Finally, we come to Inglorious Basterds and Pitt stars as Lieutenant Aldo Raine, the leader of a group of Jewish-American soldiers where Pitt was once again partnered with frequent collaborator, Quentin Tarantino. From the costume and dialogue to the voice and the demeanour, Pitt is tremendous, and he combines both the dark and comedic elements of his character to perfection.
