Singer/songwriter Morgan Snow, the leader of Triggers & Slips proves that you can summon ears with a tried and true country drawl, but not alienate fans of being “too country.” And yes, his band steers more into Drive-By Truckers vs Luke Bryan, yet never loses its footing in a biting and soothing twang.

Yet the catcher is Trigger & Slips resides from Salt Lake City, not your typical stetson hat-wearing musical destination. This band truly has a polished sound that hones of confessional anthems alongside lonesome prairie pedal steel guitars that ache of one’s misadventures. With their 2012 debut EP and two albums under their belt, the band is now set to share their most fully-formed and emotionally-mature work to date, What Do You Feed Your Darkness?  out on September 9th.

Glide is sharing the passionately fueled “Family Vs Business,” (below) perhaps one of the most bad-ass song titles since Merle Haggard had his way with “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink.” If there ever was a song that had it all: potent instrumental intro, haunting melodies, and overall tight melodic precision… this one takes the prize.

“This song is mostly about my maternal grandfather. I was dealing with his impending death when I started writing this song with my friend Ashlee. My Grandfather had nine children with my grandmother, remarried and had three more children, and it was later discovered that he had multiple children out of wedlock throughout the Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming area. The last verse was written after his passing and is 100% true, a lot of people loved him and thought very highly of him. I didn’t, and there are a lot of others within the family that were hurt to the core by how he treated people. I only witnessed his funeral from a distance in order to not spoil the mood of others grieving his death. I watched as his casket was taken away in the back of a black dump truck to his grave site. This song took years to finish and to have the right vibe and feel,” describes Snow.
