SONG/VIDEO PREMIERE – Cash Langdon Showcases Alabama Power Pop Warmth On “The Kid”

Birmingham musician Cash Langdon (who, most recently, collaborated with Nora Button on a long-distance project, Caution) returns with a brand new solo effort, a record entitled Sinister Feeling, due October 14 via Earth Libraries. Langdon recently returned to his native Alabama, where he’s honed in on the area’s mix of country, hip hop, R&B, and rock to collide and form an open musical dialogue between his home and creative happenstances.

Glide is premiering the record’s first single, “That Kid,” (below) along with an accompanying music video that struts along with Beatlesque harmonies and undeniable power pop charm.

“That Kid,” was the first tune Langdon wrote for Sinister Feeling; it’s about the helpless feeling when people you love are stuck in their lives. Langdon works through his empathy with chorused guitar swells, playful organ, and roomy slide, ending on an impressionistic refrain: “That kid’s embalmed.”

“‘That Kid’ is about feeling helpless in a situation when you most want to help someone. It was the first song written for the album and laid the groundwork for a lot of what the rest of the album would be about. Inescapable pessimism, family and necessary distance from home are all things touched on in the song as well as elsewhere across Sinister Feeling,” says Langdon.
