LISTEN: Drugdealer Shares Downright Buttery 70s Groove On “Pictures Of You”

Michael Collins by Tessa Binder

Led by frontman and primary songwriter Michael Collins, Drugdealer expands on their 1960s and 70s-inspired sonics with the new single and video, “Pictures of You”. Their third musical offering of the year follows the previously released singles “Madison” and “Someone to Love” and is the last track to be taken from their forthcoming album Hiding In Plain Sight, due on October 28th via Mexican Summer. “Pictures of You” sees Collins hand over lead vocals to Kate Bollinger (Ghostly International) who adds her effervescent folk-pop stylings to the Rhodes-driven groove.

Speaking about the collaboration, Collins says “I was on the East Coast visiting my parents when my publisher suggested a possible writing session with Kate. I had been itching to ride a freight train since the beginning of the pandemic so I used the opportunity to do so from Baltimore down to Richmond. When I got there, we became friends really quickly and ended up writing this song at Spacebomb Studios. The whole experience was really spur of the moment and organic.”
