VIDEO PREMIERE: The Burnt Pines Bring Righteous Instrumental Prowess On “Don’t Look Down”

With The Burnt Pine’s core lineup consisting of members based in both the U.S. and Portugal (3187 miles apart), they have skillfully and beautifully demonstrated, in both logistics and craft, they have mixed paving the way for Don’t Look Down, their affecting sophomore album arriving February 3rd CEN/The Orchard.

The band’s righteous mix of roots music with an overseas touch of instrumental dynamics has enabled the trio to earn some widespread acclaim. While they would blush at being called virtuosos, there is a resemblance to the chops of Nickel Creek and the emblematic folk of Head and The Heart. They are Danish-born singer and lyricist Kris Skovmand, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Aaron Flanders, and Portuguese-born keyboard player and arranger Miguel Sá Pessoa.

Glide is premiering the heartfelt video for the title track “Don’t Look Down,” which shows the trio displaying instrumental prowess and visionary lyrical passages that knock the doors down with its positive mission.

“The reality of struggling through a difficult relationship is a total grey area.  Sometimes you’re self-wallowing, ready to leave, and other times you’re pushing through and mustering the spirit to fight on.  This song is like a war cry to continue, but also to find your own individual identity so that you can move on,” says Skovmand.

“I can’t tell you how life-affirming it has been to make a few videos for the new album.  I used to approach projects like this with a vague anxiety.  No longer.  When you wake up one day and decide to cast your 4-year-old as the main character and use your other three kids as crew members it’s not the end product that matters, it’s the connection you feel just making something together. As much as I love the video, I love the memories we made doing it more,” adds Skovmand.
