LISTEN: Pantera Makes Stage Return With Live Soundcheck

For the first time in over 20 years, Pantera returns to the stage. The band was caught sound-checking at the Hell & Heaven Metal Fest set to kick off tonight (December 2), this will be the first time any member of the original Pantera lineup will play under the band’s banner since 2001. The return of Pantera sparked much controversy when it was announced earlier this year due to the two founding members of the band, drummer Vinnie Paul and brother guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott deaths, although it has been stated that the remaining members, Rex Brown and Phillip Anselmo, have been giving the blessings of their respective lost band members estates. You can read about their official announcement to reunite here

Brown and Anselmo will be joined by guitarist Zakk Wylde who have played with the likes of Ozzy Ozbourne and other metal legends, and drummer Charlie Benante of Anthrax. On top of a string of festival appearances and one-off headline shows across the globe, the new lineup of Pantera will join Metallica on their massive tour across North America next year.

Check out the footage from Pantera’s soundcheck below where it sounds as if they are playing “Cowboys From Hell” and be sure to check back with Glide for a full recap of their reunion show tomorrow.
