LISTEN: Stephen Chopek Brings Edgy XTC Leaning Synth Soundscapes On “Don’t Go Stay Home”

On “Don’t Go Stay Home”, multi-instrumentalist Stephen Chopek brings contemporary synth soundscapes to an 80’s melodic approach that conjures up XTC and Men at Work to create a catchy power pop offering. The centerpiece of the song is the earworm of a chorus, which tastefully Chopek leans into but without risking redundancy. “Don’t Go Stay Home” is the follow-up to the single “No One Just Us”, released earlier this year.

I started writing “Don’t Go Stay Home” in the summer of 2020 when I was living in Memphis during the pandemic. It was a way for me to stay cool during the sweltering heat, and reflect on life during lockdown. I recently moved to Atlanta and set up my home studio to finish the song for a winter release.”
