On a day when every major music festival announced the line-ups and dates for their annual concert getaways, throughout the day everyone was wondering when the monster that is Coachella will get around to announcing the artist taking the trip to California. Coachella arrived in fourth place today following Boston Calling, Bonnaroo and Sonic Temple) and the 2023 Coachella lineup has been revealed. Taking place across two weekends, April 14-16 and April 21-23, the line-up for the 2023 festival is filled with firsts and surprises and no rock headliners.
The most noticeable headliner comes in the form of the elusive R&B icon Frank Ocean, who was supposed to headline back in 2020 but rescheduled due to the pandemic. This year also brings two major yet delayed breakthroughs for Coachella as Friday’s headliner will be Bad Bunny, making him the first Latin artist to headline the festival since its inaugural weekend in 1999. Another first for Coachella is having a K-Pop group topping the bill as Blackpink will take over headlining duties for the Saturday shows.
The rest of this year’s line-up is filled with some of the more exciting artists to break through in recent years along with some legendary acts who are no stranger to the festival circuit. Acts like Gorillaz, Pusha T, Wet Leg, and Alex G will be coming out west for the show while other artists like Björk and Blondie will be making a rare public appearance for the pair of weekends.
