SONG PREMIERE: Kevin Daniel Drops Big City Rock & Heartfelt Americana On Rousing “Happy For A While”

On Glide’s Tales from the Road series back in 2021, singer-songwriter Kevin Daniel detailed his return to the road following the pandemic shutdown. Most like any artist, he wrote of how performing is his lifeblood, yet once he got up on stage, it was his glittering songcraft and aching Americana that not only lifted spirits but rejuvenated his own creative drive – which is represented on his new album The Life and Adventures of Kevin Daniel.

For Kevin Daniel, signing with western North Carolina-based Organic Records in 2022 represented a kind of virtual homecoming. Born and raised in the state, Daniel moved to New York in pursuit of a business career before his life was changed by the death of his mother and stepfather in a 2013 small plane crash. The tragedy spurred him to take more seriously the music he’d been playing on the side, and within a year he’d made his first recording, a 6-song EP titled Fly. The project was followed quickly by a second EP, Myself Through You and his first full-length set, Things I Don’t See.  In 2021, after returning to North Carolina, he released Been Here Before. Now a resident of Nashville, Tennessee, Daniel tours relentlessly when not writing, sometimes accompanied by a band, but always with a dog in tow.

Glide is premiering “Happy For A While” the first single The Life and Adventures of Kevin Daniel, the collection captures stories of the road, life, loss, and love with a musical backdrop of “big-city rock and down-home country, with bits of R&B, gospel and soul.” Daniel proves he’s still one of the unsung heroes of Americana combining the lyrical strength and soulful hooks of Steve Earle and Hayes Carll
