LISTEN: Melbourne’s Sunfruits Deliver Mighty Power Pop Anthem On “End of the World”

Melbourne’s Sunfruits delivers a power pop anthem of a generation with their new track “End of the World.” Tapping into an all too familiar sentiment many people felt in early 2020; Winter opens the song with a dreamy vocal forward intro before the band drops in at full energy and he sings “Oh, it feels like this is it. The very first year of the apocalypse.” The round bass tone and snare-heavy drumming are the pulse for fuzzed-out riffing and a sarcastic take on the slow death of society. If you’re in the UK, New Zealand, or Australia, be sure to catch Sunfruits at a festival or venue this year.

Winter recalls composing the track: “This song really took shape once Gene (Argiro) and I figured out the form and realized that the song really had two choruses that we just wanted to repeat. The outro came into shape when we got Evie (Vlah) and Elena (Jones) to add those amazing harmonies and Gene came up with the idea to repeat the line “the very first year of the apocalypse” — a reference to the 2020 black summer.”
