Noy is an emerging artist who has a unique soulful sound blending pop, R&B, and alternative music together. Her empowering, relatable lyrics and dynamic production have garnered her a dedicated following. Her upcoming EP, promises to be an exciting follow-up to her debut album released earlier this year, “Running From the Shadows.”
“Sometimes” will leave you wanting more in all the right ways. On her new track, Noy Markel(with the help of producer Tom Atlas) expresses strength in simplicity with a deep pocket groove from the bass, a simple and sporadic rhythm guitar, and a tightly compressed drum sound. While there’s a few effects and light synth layers, the track isn’t swarmed with instruments even though you can hear spaces that could’ve been easily filled with horns, organs, strings, or any number of sounds. This leaves space for the main attraction: Her voice and words. You can almost feel her movement in the recording while she delivers an effortlessly infectious melody throughout.
