We have one hell of a list for you this week, folks! It’s New Music Friday and our streaming platforms are boasting a plethora of new tracks to help usher in a (hopefully) relaxing weekend for everyone. This time around, we’ve compiled one of our most diverse lists yet. With sonics ranging from colorful, funk-infused soul to passionately delivered emo tracks, Glide has just the right song for whatever mood you want to enter your weekend with.

Check out Glide’s pick for the best new music of the past seven days:

Grian Chatten – “The Score”

Single

You may know him as the frontman to the terrific Fontaines D.C., but this time around he’s stepping out on his own. Grian Chatten released his debut solo this week and it’s a beautiful ballad that doesn’t need much more than the pure emotion put into the vocals. A sparse acoustic plucks under Chatten’s prominent vocals as the song tugs on your heartstrings.

Thundercat & Tame Impala – “No More Lies”

Single

It’s the collaboration we have all been wishing for and it’s better than we could’ve ever expected. Bassist Thundercat and his signature falsetto are greeted with the cosmic creativity of Tame Impala to create their collaborative single, “No More Lies”. The track hits on all fronts, relatable lyrics are delivered with masterful melodies over a bright and bouncy instrumental to create the perfect song for the warm weather.

Home Is Where – “Yes! Yes! A Thousand Times Yes!”

The Whaler

Being one of the most exciting young voices of a genre is a lot of work but Home Is Where is taking the opportunity and running with it. The band announced their new album, The Whaler, this week and gave us the first single from their anticipated release. The album is due on June 16 and “Yes! Yes! A Thousand Times Yes!” is our fantastic first look into the LP. The track features spurts of expert vocals over distorted guitars that fill the arrangement with angst.

Atmosphere – “Holding My Breathe”

So Many Other Realities Exist Simultaneously

For our latest look into the anticipated new album from Minnesota’s foremost hip-hop duo, they really changed things up. Atmosphere is gearing up to release their new album, So Many Other Realities Exist Simultaneously is set to release on May 5 via Rhymesayers, and “Holding My Breathe” is the perfect example of the duo’s chemistry. With a certain bounce to soften the blows of the lyric’s bluntness, the track plays on the contradiction to create the best single we’ve heard from the upcoming LP.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit – “Cast Iron Skillet”

Weathervanes

One of the finest songwriters across all genres is prepping his latest outing and Jason Isbell is continuing to hold nothing back. He is teaming up with his trusty 400 unit for the new album Weathervanes, which is due on June 9. “Cast Iron Skiller” is a minimal ballad that finds Isbell at his most comfortable by allowing his words and emotions to steer the direction of the song to create a somber country tune.

Ghost of Vroom – “Pay The Man”

Ghost of Vroom 3

The long-awaited follow-up to 2021’s Ghost of Vroom 2 is finally on the horizon, and we couldn’t be more excited. Ghost of Vroom 3 is set to release on September 1 and the first single packs in enough personality to make you question how you missed their first two projects. “Pay The Man” features heavy hip-hop influences while also doubling as a hard-hitting rock tune that features catchy vocals and hard-hitting drums that are as infectious as they are impressive.

Tommy Emmanuel & Billy Strings – “Doc’s Guitar/Black Mountain Rag”

Single

In the latest chapter of his Collaborations series, acclaimed acoustic guitarist Tommy Emmanuel teamed up with Billy Strings for an onslaught of otherworldly musicianship. “Doc’s Guitar” makes up the first half with Emmanuel continuing to expand his sound until Strings comes in for his equally impressive exploration into bluegrass.

Protomartyr – “Elimination Dances”

Formal Growth in the Desert

The legendary post-punk bad Protomartyr is getting ready to add another chapter to their already impressive discography. Formal Growth in the Desert is set to release on June 2 and we now have another terrific single to accompany us on the wait. “Elimination Dances” is an epic new single that feels larger than life due to the echoing passion of the vocals and sliding guitar rhythms that make this song unforgettable.

Chromeo – “Replacements” (Feat. La Roux)

Single

Once the funk legends Chromeo made their official return last month with the release of their first single since 2018. The duo now looks to build on one hell of a Coachella set with a brand new single that has the band returning to their roots as if they ever left. “Replacements” features the incredible La Roux along with a synth-heavy arrangement that grooves around your head only to be soothed out by velvet melodies.

Matt Maltese – “Widows”

Driving Just To Drive

Matt Maltese has been making a name for himself as a sentimental songwriter with a natural sense of pop melodies. His latest album, Driving Just To Drive, hits the public today and features some of Maltese’s best music yet. “Widows” is the emotional highlight that features the artist’s signature vulnerability over a somber arrangement.

The National – “Alien”

First Two Pages Of Frankenstein

Everyone’s favorite “Dad Rock” band is back and brought with them an incredible new LP. The National officially released First Two Pages of Frankenstein today and features an all-star cast of features, although some of the best moments of the LP come from the band themselves. “Alien” has the band crafting a sentimental track that features a muted drum pattern to compliment the monotone vocals and hopeful lyrics.
