LISTEN: Quinn Devlin Flaunts Genuine Twang On Pedal Steel Drivin “Lillian”

A native of suburban Pennsylvania, Quinn Devlin grew up on records such as London Calling, Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ, and Tapestry. He moved to NYC in 2012 to attend Columbia University. As a multi-instrumentalist, Quinn has supported the likes of Aisha Badru, JW Francis, vern matz, Alex Lleo, and Jacqueline Hackett, among others on record and/or on stage.

With “Lillian”, Quinn Devlin creates an intriguing vignette enveloped in an easy-to-follow soundscape. Tight, bright unaltered drums hold the foundation under the simple acoustic guitar and fittingly dreamy pedal steel for Devlins wonderfully uncomplicated singing. When the chorus comes around the group gives an endearingly loose harmony that really adds something special to the whole recording. The storytelling is concise, by the end it’ll leave you waiting for the next episode.

“It’s an exploration of characters and their relationships through experiences of intimacy; romantic, platonic, and everything in between alongside the nature of time passing,” says Devlin.
