The Third Mind “In My Own Dream”

The Third Mind 2

The highly anticipated new album from the supergroup Third Mind has finally arrived in all its glory. The Third Mind 2 follows the 2020 self-titled debut from the americana powerhouse and it is even more expansive and mesmerizing than we could’ve hoped for. For 6 mind-altering songs, cosmic odysseys combine with the perfect amount of twang for an otherworldly nose dive into country rock psychedelia. “In My Own Dream” is the sprawling stand-out track, clocking in at just over eight minutes, the spacious ambiance allows the nuances of the musicianship to flourish while the stunning vocal performance adds the perfect amount of southern charm.

Robert Finley – “Gospel Blues”

Black Bayou

The incomparable and authentic blues of Robert Finley have never sounded better and his stellar new LP showcases a veteran at the top of their game. Black Bayou is a moving display of masterful guitar plucking and lyrics that toe the line between hopeful and downtrodden. “Gospel Blues” has that grainy texture to it that brings Finley’s unforgettable vocal performance to the next level.

Willy Tea Taylor & The Fellership – “Fightin’ Man”

The Great Western Hangover

The fantastic new Willy Tea Taylor album has the elusive artist returning to a familiar and warm sound, toeing the line between progression and nostalgia. The great Western Hangover features ten slow-burning, acoustic arrangements with Willy Tea Taylor writing some of the best songs of his life. “Fightin’ Man” is a humble and sentimental track with a simple arrangement with weeping acoustics.

Wild Nothing – “Histrion”

Hold

For their first album since 2018, Jack Tatum’s electro-pop project Wild Nothing lets loose. Hold features 11 twinkling examples of the charming sonics Wild Nothing as manipulated over the years, strung together by Tatum’s award-winning songwriting and infectious falsettos. “Histrion” is an early favorite from the new LP, sparse guitars cut through a bouncy piano melody for simplistic beauty as the light-hearted vocal performance gives the song an airy feeling.

Flyte – “Better Than Blue”

Flyte

Three albums in and the sentimental indie rock of Flyte has received a self-titled LP. Flyte has the band stripping their arrangements down to their bones to give the full album a palpable warmth, only using what is needed and nothing more. “Better Than Blue” features subtle hints of a gentle brass section while the album’s whimsical acoustics give the track a rustic, homegrown feeling.

DJ Shadow – “A Narrow Escape”

Action Adventure

The immensely important and diverse producer DJ Shadow is back with his most ambitious album to date. Action Adventure (Out today) is a frantic exploration into the colorful creativity of DJ Shadow, an album built on the back of experimentation as much as it is nostalgia. “A Narrow Escape” is just the tip of the synth-drenched iceberg that is Action Adventure. The song feels like you’re being shot out of a cannon thanks to the blistering tempos and neck-breaking drum patterns lined with enough lush synth textures to give the track a soft edge.

Black Pumas – “Hello”

Chronicles of a Diamond

The psychedelic folk duo Black Pumas had a big responsibility to follow up their stellar breakthrough debut, and they conquered the challenge with immense ease. Chronicles of a Diamond showcases a fearless creativity that proves Black Pumas are far more than another soul act in the modern age. “Hello” is a stirring ballad lined with psychedelic tropes and a jaw-dropping vocal performance that puts you in a trance, allowing the smooth arrangement to wash over you like a sigh of relief.

The Gaslight Anthem – “Michigan, 1975”

History Books

For their first album in nine years, Gaslight Anthem is picking up right where they left off. Their new LP, History Books, showcases a veteran band with a thirst to conquer new territory while keeping one foot in their signature sound. “Michigan, 1975” showcases both sides of Gaslight Anthem, a wonky guitar tone welcomes you to a touching ballad with moving lyrics and a gentle tempo.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – “Swan Song”

The Silver Cord

The chameleon-style sonics of Australia’s King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard transform into an electronic dance style of indie rock for their latest release. The Silver Cord has the elastic vocals of the band bending to the will of off-kilter arrangements brimming with industrial-style melodies and cascading synths. “Swan Song” is just a hint at what to expect from The Silver Cord, the vocals dip from baritone to falsetto in the blink of an eye as the hyperactive arrangement dances around in a flurry of bleeping drums and dense rhythms.

Green Day – “The American Dream Is Killing Me”

Saviors

One of the forefathers of modern punk is crash landing with a brand new LP and its lead single is everything we could’ve asked for. In a welcomed return to form, Green Day is back with “The American Dream Is Killing Me”, the infectious and nostalgic lead single from their upcoming Saviors LP. The full album is set to be released on January 19 with the lead single bringing promises of something special. “The American Dream Is Killing Me” is a catchy protest track with politically charged lyrics to match the pure pop-punk energy that drives Green Day’s triumphant return.

Chelsea Wolfe – “Whispers In The Echo Chamber”

She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She

If the title of her upcoming album is any hint at the music it contains, Chelsea Wolfe is preparing her most ambitious album yet. She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She is set to be released on February 9 via Loma Vista and the album’s latest single sums up the excitement surrounding it. “Whispers In The Echo Chamber” is a beautifully challenging piece of art with so many moving parts that all blend into a dark electro-pop ballad.

Kid Cudi – “ILL WHAT I BLEED”

INSANO

The virtuosic and multi-faceted artist Kid Cudi is prepping his highly anticipated ninth studio album and with every single, the excitement reaches a new fever pitch. INSANO has no set release date as of now but Cudi has released the latest single from the upcoming release. “ILL WHAT I BLEED” is the spaced-out new single from the album and its dark, trap influences mix perfectly with Cudi’s signature crooning. Cudi sounds fantastic on this new single and if INSANO is half as good as its singles, Cudi has something special brewing for us.

Grandaddy – “Watercooler”

Blu Wav

The prolific and ever-charming Grandaddy is back with a brand new single from their freshly announced 2024 LP. Blu Wav is set to be released on February 16 and the lead single “Watercooler” is an effortlessly infectious tune. A gentle twang carries the spacious arrangement as Grandaddy withstands the test of time with a refreshingly sentimental single from what is promising to be another terrific album from the iconic California-bred band.

Yard Act – “Dream Job”

Where’s My Utopia?

A breakout star from 2022, Yard Act is wasting no time cashing in on their newfound attention. The post-punk outfit is bringing a refreshing sense of fun to their blossoming genre with Where’s My Utopia, their sophomore album which is set to be released on March 1. “Dream Job” is the funky lead single from the upcoming release, a danceable bass line that brings the energy as the band redefines what a light-hearted jam really is.

Glitterer – “Plastic”

Rationale

The solo project of former Title Fight bassist Ned Russin emerges with a fuzzed-out single from a brand-new album. Rationale is set to be released on February 23 and its short yet potent lead single gives us a sneak peek into the upcoming release. Russin’s high-flying vocal performance is anchored by the dense textures of the hectic arrangement for a burst of blissful, chaotic punk.
