Adrianne Lenker returns on the solo front to release her new single “ruined” with an accompanying video directed by the singer/songwriter’s brother Noah. The single comes ahead of her freshly announced 2024 European and UK tour dates with one stop in the States at Tennessee’s Big Ears Festival. The single is signature Lenker, a beautifully minimal arrangement evokes warmth as her wistful vocal performances feel almost ambient, giving “ruined” a floating sensation.
“Ruined” marks Lenker’s first solo release since 2020 when she released her acclaimed LP Songs and its sister album of instrumentals. Her latest is stripped-down vulnerability at its finest, Lenker’s poetic songwriting is as emotional as it gets. On the song, Lenker said “This song has been a quiet beacon for me. It may contain the essence of the gift of romantic love but it’s mostly about something much bigger.”
Lenker was recently nominated for a Grammy as Big Thief’s 2022 album gets recognition in the Best Alternative Music Album category.
