Multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer/songwriter, Sean Waters has performed over 1,000 shows across the Mountain West, including at a Colorado Musician Showcase at SXSW. High School Valedictorian, he earned master’s degrees in both philosophy (2008) and education (2012), while performing in the award-winning jam rock band Wasabi. He supports his family teaching composition at Colorado State University. He also writes daily and has started an online education company called the Wisdom Workshop. Waters makes “ruminative Colorado Americana” (Indie is not a Genre) with a process called the Sunrise Genius. “Life is music, and love is the only language,” he says, “seeing the possibilities for rebirth in every moment and every person he meets.”
Like a cathartic walk through a foggy park, Sean Waters pairs eerie tones with heavy vulnerability on “Cathedral Pines”. The slow-burning folk tune evokes the warmth of the genre’s tropes while sprinkling in left-field guitar plucking. The poetic songwriting is delivered with immense care, carried on a cloud of emotionally stirring melodies with palpable passion. “Cathedral Pines” is a stunning folk ballad that borrows from the same genre it reconfigured to land on this moving tune.
“This song is me finding permission to make art for its own sake, to appreciate how nature offers itself to the world.” Explains Waters on his new single. “I want to be like the pine trees, standing strong in the wind, with roots down deep… offering my art up like a gift I am giving back to the sky.”
