Coming off what may be the most fully realized album of their career, IDLES hits the road to bring these songs to life. We’re only a few weeks removed from the release of TANGK and the post-punk mainstays have already performed the album at a few release events across the U.K. Last night
(February 29), IDLES hit the stage at the Super Bock Arena in Porto, Portugal for the first night of their Love is the Fing tour. This extensive tour has the band traversing Europe for the first leg before making their way over to the States for a run of shows across the country. If last night’s setlist is any hint at what this tour is to bring, IDLES is going on a historic run.
They kicked things off with “IDEA 01”, the intro to their phenomenal 2024 LP. The 24-song setlist had the band exploring every corner of their colorful discography to put together a career-defining show. TANGK was the main focus, nine songs from the album were performed with tracks like “Roy”, “POP POP POP”, and “Dancer”. They all dug deep into their sophomore release Joy as an Act of Resistance, pulling out tracks like their hit “Never Fight a Man with a Perm” and B-sides like “Rottweiler” and “Television”. IDLES went as far back as their debut with performances of “Mother” and “1049 Gotho”. The rest of the setlist was an amalgamation of IDLES’ career so far, attacking their discography at every angle.
This was just the start of their Love is the Fing tour and they are starting hot. Next, the band will hit venues in Italy, France, and Belgium before making their way to North America. Their North American run will kick off on May 2 in Vancouver before making their way to the States for stops in Texas, Denver, and Los Angeles. Check out the full setlist, full tour schedule and ticket link, and footage from last night’s show below.
