With a unique fusion between the rawness of grime culture and the creativity and eclecticism of UK Rap, KOJ delivers authentic and personable lyrics full of character that resonates with many in an organic way that only a few can do. Similar to artists such as Loyle Carner and Kano, KOJ’s amazing lyric dexterity reigns supreme on his debut track “Blue Notes,” which achieved critical and ardent support across core national radio platforms, including playlist adds on BBC Radio 1Xtra. His follow-up release, “Family Tree,” further showcased his unique appeal as he demonstrated his special mix of introspection, street tales, and exceptional lyricism.

On his latest single, KOJ uses a triumphant instrumental to deliver his lyrical dexterity and vivid storytelling. “A Roadman’s Tale Of Home” is penned from a nomad’s perspective, but not in the typical sense. This nomad is not only without a solid place to lay their head but holds a loose concept of what a home is. KOJ uses the neck-breaking drums of the arrangement to meditate on the philosophical idea of a home with passionate gusto. If KOJ feels aimless, his presence on this track doesn’t show it. His booming vocals deliver head-spinning flows as the artist navigates a hectic arrangement effortlessly. KOJ is only a few releases into his musical journey, but “A Rodman’s Tale Of Home” thrusts him into the conversation of promising hip-hop acts from the UK.

“This song explores what “home” means to somebody like me. Not just home in the physical sense, but the people who make you feel at home – home in a spiritual sense. Life is about so much more than where you’re from and where you live. It’s a strange thing – being a mixed heritage working class man in the North West of England with a variety of life experiences and so I wanted to touch on that and remind the people that they are not alone in this fight we call life. What’s home, really? We are about to find out.”
