Slash’s performance at his very own S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Blues Festival in Denver on was a standout event, showcasing the legendary guitarist’s mastery and deep connection to blues music. Keb Mo supported and he too was extra special. Held at The Mission Ballroom, the concert was part of a nationwide tour Slash’s latest album, Orgy of the Damned. The event was not only a musical feast but also supported various charitable causes, including the National Alliance on Mental Illness and the Equal Justice Initiative.
Slash and his band obviously wanted to get the fans going early and opened the show with a blistering rendition of “Parchman Farm Blues.” The action didn’t stop after that, either. Slash and his band continued to show their prowess for old school Blues, diving head-on into Howlin’ Wolf’s “Killing Floor.” Slash took total control and set the tone for the evening, blending the raw energy of rock with soulful, masterful melodies. Slash is accompanied by an impressive band featuring Johnny Griparic (bass), Teddy “ZigZag” Andreadis (keyboards), Michael Jerome (drums), and Tash Neal (vocals/guitar).
Highlights of the night included passionate performances of the Temptations’ “Papa was a Rolling Stone” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Stone Free.” Overall, the Denver show was a testament to Slash’s enduring talent and his commitment to both his musical roots and contemporary issues, making it a memorable night for all who attended.
