Weirdo Wednesday: George Harrison Goes Eccentric With “The Pirate Song” Live 1976

Remember that one time when George Harrison really wanted to be a pirate on a very special Christmas edition of Rutland Weekend Television way back in 1976? Oh, wait, what’s that, you don’t? Then feast your eyes on his hilarious performance, which starts out instrumentally as an apparently faithful rendition of “My Sweet Lord”, but then finds Georgie Boy going into full pirate mode, much to the (feigned) bemusement of his bandmates. And here all along I thought George was the “serious” Beatle, which only makes this all the more amusing. R.I.P.
