Phish Providence Setlist and Recap

Phish @ Dunkin’ Donuts Center, Providence RI – October 22

Phish returned to the Providence Civic Center for the first time in nearly 11 years tonight to find a venue with a new name and over $80 million of renovations. The quartet focused on older material, including only three songs written since their last visit to what’s now known as the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on December 13, 1999.

The first set started in true Arena Rock fashion with Down With Disease and kept that vibe flowing through the rest of the performance. Throughout all two sets there were barely any slow-paced songs with Sanity and Ocelot qualifying as the only two compositions that didn’t aim to induce fist pumping moments.

One after another, the band ripped through high-energy songs galore. Phish stuck with road tested material as only Rift, Sanity and Sample In a Jar saw their first action of October. Sanity contained a bit of space jam and continued the trend of inventive Mike’s sandwiches coming directly between Mike’s and Weekapaug.

  1. That’s right, no Simple. I would also argue that ‘My Problem Right There’ didn’t contain any “fist-pumping moments” based on the suspected criteria, but either way, my cerebral cortex and cardiovascular system were pumping enough for my fists. Great time.
