Bloggy Goodness: Spotify Comes Stateside

After several years of being available exclusively in Europe, music streaming service Spotify will finally cross the pond and will soon be available to music fans in the United States. The site, which boasts with a library of over 13 million songs, will offer users both a free ad-based service and a subscription model – which will be required for use on your mobile device. Currently Spotify has no official launch date, but you if you head over to their website you can sign up to try and score an invite to their beta launch.


Finally, the Short List for Canada’s Polaris Music Prize, which is awarded annually to the best full-length Canadian release, have been revealed. The ten albums competing for the $30,000 prize include The Suburbs from the heavily favored Arcade Fire, as well as releases from Destroyer, Timber Timbre, Ron Sexsmith and The Weeknd. The 2011 Polaris Prize winner will be announced September 19 in Toronto.
