HT Giveaway: Win a Tedeschi Trucks Band Signed Vinyl / Concert Tickets Package

While the Tedeschi Trucks Band have succeeded in putting out a fantastic debut LP in Revelator, there’s no doubt that live is where they thrive. The dynamic drumming duo of Tyler Greenwell and J.J. Johnson along with bassist Oteil Burbridge provide deep, in-the-pocket grooves behind Susan’s potent blues-laden vocals and Derek’s otherworldly guitar work. The TTB fill each setlist with tunes from Revelator and covers from the likes of Sly Stone & the Family Stone (Sing a Simple Song), Jimi Hendrix (Manic Depression) and The Meters (Just Kissed My Baby), keeping the audience on their toes.

If you haven’t checked out Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi’s high-octane 11-piece, you’ll get your chance tonight when the Tedeschi Trucks Band performs Learn How to Love on Conan O’Brien’s TBS show. The group kicked off a two-month tour on Sunday night in Los Angeles that finds them mixing festival appearances at Gathering of the Vibes, The Pittsburgh Blues Festival and the Hot August Blues Festival with headlining shows at storied venues across the country.

As part of our Everybody Wins When We Plug Something And In Return They Offer Us Free Shit To Give Away program, we’ve got a special Tedeschi Trucks Band prize pack for one lucky reader. 1. I’d Rather go Blind – by Ellington Jordan and Billy Foster and first recorded by Etta James

  2. In honor of the album title, I think they should play “John the Revelator” (there are many tunes with thus title; my choice is the version played by The White Stripes).

  3. I would love to hear them play Benedict Rides Again off of Merl Saunder’s Fire It Up album. Oteil’s bass and Susan’s vocals would be perfect (I’m sure Derek would find a way to play some ridiculous leads).

  4. Freebird by Skynard – if any band should head the call, its these guys as a homage to their Jax FL roots and current hometown.

  5. I think you should play Red Hot Mama, Parliament-style. Thinking between Mike and Susan’s voice, Oteil’s slapping and Derek and Kofi’s crazy, it may be a winner! Winning!! PS: Love the: Everybody Wins When We Plug Something And In Return They Offer Us Free Shit To Give Away program!

  6. Handwriting On The Wall – The Staple Singers

honorable mention – Dark End Of The Street – Penn and Oldham, etc

  7. One cover I would love to see them do is Scarlet Fire by The Grateful Dead. Why? Because it a great song and I think they would do a good job covering it!

  8. Walk on guilded splinters – would, to me, be as near to heaven on this earth as you can get. Please TTB!!!

  9. “Use Me” by Bill Withers. It’s got a great beat for that kick ass percussion team of yours, as well as a great hook to work from for your guitar licks!

  10. I know it’s been covered practically to death, but I’d love to hear their interpretation of All Along the Watchtower.

Or just about any Bonnie Raitt tune, for that matter.

  11. After being blown away by TTB at The Warfield in San Francisco a few weeks ago, I’d love to see them cover
“What’s Up” (aka What’s Goin’ On) by Linda Perry – Would be great to hear Susan & Mike duet on that, & of course Derek do a guitar solo like Linda used to do with the 4 Non-Blondes..

  12. Catfish John–written Bob McDill and Allen Reynolds, performed by Jerry Garcia Band
i lovee you derek, susan, oteil and family

  13. I’d love to see them cover “Freebird” by Lynard Skynard, because both bands are from Jacksonville.

  14. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow – Carole King. It would be nice to hear Susan do this. Can even include Mike too.

  15. Well, everything they seem to play sounds great so…how about John Coltrane’s take on The Night Has a Thousand Eyes, Izabella by Jimi Hendrix or an unaccompanied slide version of Body and Soul? Love to hear Derek take that on solo.

  16. I would love to see TTB band play “little wing”. I saw derek and susan perform this once before and it was truely magical.
