Terrapin Crossroads Update: Let Phil File

We’ve been following the status of Phil Lesh’s planned Marin County music venue with great interest since the story first came to our attention in May. Lesh envisions hosting the West Coast version of Levon Helm’s famed Midnight Rambles and community gatherings at a place that will be called Terrapin Crossroads. On August 1, Jerry Garcia’s birthday, Terrapin Crossroads took another step towards coming to fruition when Lesh filed a use permit application for a two-story building in Fairfax, CA according to Paul Liberatore of the Marin Independent Journal.

Some details we’ve learned from the filing [via the MIJ]…

  • The venue will hold a maximum of 500 people
  • The venue will be built using green materials
  • The performance space will take up 3,000 square feet of the venue’s bottom floor
  • Construction is estimated to take a year and will begin next summer if the permit is approved

Be sure to read Liberatore’s article for much more on this exciting project. As expected, there has been some local opposition to Lesh’s plans. We’ll keep you posted on whether the town of Fairfax approves the permit.
