Last week we told you about The Metermen, a project featuring Phish keyboardist Page McConnell along with The Original Meters members Zigaboo Modeliste, Leo Nocentelli and George Porter Jr, and the group’s pair of performances at B.B. King’s in New York City on October 31 and November 1. Today, the band has tacked on another show to the run, as they’ll perform at the historic Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C. on November 2.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, July 27, at Noon EDT.

UPDATE: George Porter Jr. shares his calendar with the world including dates he needs to keep open for possible gigs and rehearsals. You’ll notice that in September the legendary bassist has kept the 27th open for “Metermen Rehearsal” and the 28th as “Hold For Metermen Gig.” Both locations are listed as GPJ’s hometown of New Orleans, so hopefully we’ll see a debut performance from the quartet on September 28th in The Big Easy. You’ll also notice a yet-to-be-announced gig featuring The Roots and The Funky Meters at the yet-to-be-re-opened Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on September 21. hope they bring this to the West Coast!
Bring IT to Chicago!
YEEEEES! Howard Theater is awesome!
They should add another show in Philly on Nov 3rd.
Saw the show in Philly. Meters were great. Page needs to “Reel it in” and not try to prove he has the funk. Which he fakes. Love the Meters but they need a more complimentary key board player. They are not a jam band!
