Merry Pranksters Celebrating Halloween In Vegas

The Merry Pranksters will be rolling out the bus and gettin’ their prank on.

On Halloween night, Monday, October 31st, in Las Vegas, The Merry Pranksters join The Mutaytor, Bassnectar, Everyone Orchestra with special Guests, The New Riders of the Purple Sage and revelers of all stripes for an all night party commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Acid Tests.

The event will run from 6 pm until dawn, beginning with a seminar discussing the impacts of the Merry Prankster Acid Tests on art and culture, and going on into the wee hours. Expect Snakedancers, Stage Magicians, Circus Acts and more. Expect the Unexpected. This evening is NOT likely to be standard club or psychedelic party fare.

moe. is happy to announce that they are once again collaborating with Les and Lynn Berger of Rhythms at Sea Cruises (formerly Rock the Boat Cruises) on their 2nd music cruise. The cruise will take place January 7-14, 2007 on the the Norwegian Jewel. Fans will be treated to a different itinerary this time: the ship will head east out of Miami and hit the ports of San Juan (Puerto Rico), St Johns (Antigua), St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands) and Great Stirrup Cay (Bahamas).

The Jewel is Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship. This is the crowning jewel in their incredible fleet of Freestyle Ships. She shines from bow to stern with an incredible array of outstanding amenities including:

Peter Buck & Robert Fripp Recording Together

R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck has been recording in Seattle with R.E.M. touring drummer Bill Rieflin and King Crimson leader Robert Fripp for a potential album, according to R.E.M.’s Web site.

The group, which also features multi-instrumentalist Hector Zazou, bassist Fred Chalenor and drummer Matt Chamberlain, tested out the material earlier in the week during a show at Seattle’s Crocodile Cafe.

Buck will also rejoin his on-again, off-again side band the Minus 5 for a five-date tour of Spain beginning Nov. 15 in Valencia.

Derek Trucks Band To Release “Songlines” On Feb. 7

The Derek Trucks Band has set a Feb. 7 release date for its next studio album, “Songlines.” The Columbia album is the group’s first studio set with singer Mike Mattison, who was already in the group when it recorded last year’s concert album, “Live at the Georgia Theatre.”

A selection of new originals (including “I’ll Find My Way,” “Revolution” and the instrumental “Mahjoun”) are augmented by covers that include Rahsaan Roland Kirk’s “Volunteered Slavery,” Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn’s “Sahib Teri Bandi/Maki Madni” and Toots Hibbert’s “Sailing On,” as well as the traditional “Crow Jane.”

The group has European dates on its schedule through a Nov. 8 show in Hamburg. A U.S. tour opens Nov. 11 in Glenside, Pa., and will run through late January.

MySpace Fall Tour Announced

Chances are you’ve heard of MySpace.
The social networking site has ballooned into a multimedia phenomenon, with new and established bands alike promoting themselves through online word-of-mouth like never before.
Now the site has picked five of its best and brightest up-and-coming acts to travel the country for nearly two months on the MySpace Fall Tour, which kicks off in Dallas October 26 at The Door.
Arizona-based road dogs Greeley Estates and San Diego five-piece My American Heart – both fresh off the Vans Warped Tour – top the bill, along with A Change of Pace, Agent Sparks, and The Confession.
The bands’ youthful energy will be put to the test on the packed itinerary, which includes dates in nearly 45 cities. The tour wraps December 16 in Phoenix.
