Combining an explosive and delicate balance of electronic textures, from deep house, drum and bass to more traditional jazz, funk and world music – 2005 is looking like a breakout year for Lotus, Philadelphia’s favorite band of nomads.
Friday: I guess this was an average show for the first night. Lots of good moments, but lots of train wrecks too. Chris Robinson was ok on most tunes, but
Particle treated Portland to non-stop head-bobbing Dance Music for much of the night and converted many in attendance into full-fledged Particle People. With Phish on the shelf forever, Particle promises to carry the jamband scene, with the help of their contemporaries, well into the twenty first century.

Tribute albums are often tricky. Should a band stay faithful to the original version or try to bring a new interpretation of the song to the table? There are solid arguments for both sides of the coin. Luckily for us, the fine folks at Sanctuary Records have provided us with a tribute album that serves to both.
Through relentless touring over the last couple years and word-of-mouth, Particle has quickly made a name for themselves by exciting audiences with their self-described “space porn” at festivals, clubs and late-night parties around the country. Particle’s first full-length album, Launchpad, effctively captures their energetic live sound in a studio setting.
Without releasing an album, Particle has managed to earn a huge following throughout the country, providing a powerful source of inspiration and satiation for fans who crave experimental, high energy dance music. It
