What is it about festivals these days? How come every-time I visit a music related blog that’s not hyping Vampire Weekend, they are announcing another festival whose lineup card is bragging “my lineup can kick your lineup’s ass.” And more likely than a $5 bottle of Aquafina, that lineup will include Flaming Lips, NIN and Wilco.
It’s easy to enjoy Colorblind, but in the end, it will have you searching for a copy of his stellar debut Live at the Wetlands. That's the rub with Robert Randolph, as years ago, the more his sets grew repetitive and his jams predictable, the more we craved stronger, more varied songs. But does the quest for songs mean no more goofy, sloppy fun?

By taking the celebratory spirit of his church beginnings, and moving it from the pews into the clubs, Randolph, along with the appropriately entitled – The Family Band- is unleashing a fresh brand of “positive soul rock,” that strives on making people feel good.
