In anticipation of the 2011 Acoustic Tour, Glide Magazine’s Peter Zimmerman had the distinct pleasure of speaking with both Deb and Steve about the tour and their career in general. What resulted was a enjoyable conversation about the daunting task of choosing (and rehearsing) forty songs for the tour, devising varied setlists, their approach to writing, and perhaps most intriguing, what constitutes a typical day in the life of The Weepies.
The material for The Weepies' 90 minute set came from all three albums fairly equally, yet unfortunately omitted any of the tracks from Happiness, their debut record. Still, for most fans this was the first time hearing two-thirds of that material—really anything written and released post-2007
You might not know it, but you probably already love The Weepies. It might have been that commercial for Old Navy, or that episode of Grey’s Anatomy, but you’ve probably mouthed the words, “That’s a good song” after hearing one of their simple, catchy tunes.
