10 years ago today (12/17/10), Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet) passed away at the age of 69. Owner of the most critically praised weirdest and almost unlistenable at first but gets great after 20 listens to album Trout Mask Replica,  Beefheart was indeed eclectic before that word became a thing. With gravelly croon and a mix of collaborators (including Frank Zappa) Beefheart lived by an almost anything can musically paint philosophy. Beefheart wasn’t heard much after the early ’80s, yet even after his death still remains an enigma.  There’s not a ton of footage of Beefheart out there but check out his live take on “I’m Gonna Booglarize You, Baby” in 1972…
