10 Years Ago Today- The Rolling Stones Play China For First Time (Watch “Start Me Up” Live)

10 years ago today (4/8/06), The Rolling Stones, 44 years after their formation finally played mainland China for the first time. Authorities had asked the band to cut five songs (‘Brown Sugar,’ ‘Honky Tonk Woman,’ ‘Beast of Burden,’ ‘Let’s Spend the Night Together,’ and ‘Rough Justice’) from their repertoire because of suggestive lyrics, although the band had many to choose from.
