20 years ago today, Damien Rice released his debut album O, one that earned critical acclaim and set Rice as a bonafide folk hero in a short time. With emotionally vested songs (“Cannonball,” “Volcano”), Rice serenaded with a vulnerable cracking voice that almost began an Irish folk revival of his own.
