Remember when Y2k was almost considered a pandemic? Wow, how things change. And that year 2000 technological anticipation spawned the creative source for Grandaddy’s second and most cleverly titled LP The Sophtware Slump (released 5/29/00). Led by Jason Lytle, this quaint and sad concept LP brought together touches of Neil Young and Pavement atop Lytle’s passion for ELO and synthesizer texturing. If there ever was a breakthrough LP for Grandaddy, Sophtware Slump would be it, as it still holds an ear twenty years later.
