20 years ago today (10/1/96), Nirvana released their live album From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah. Featuring performances recorded from 1989 to 1994, as opposed to Nirvana’s previous live album, MTV Unplugged in New York (1994), Muddy Banks is a compilation of live electric performances, compiled primarily by bassist Krist Novoselic. The album featured no commercial single and instead fit into the fleeting and riotous side of the band, with Nirvana playing in top form despite no band-aids on the recordings.
