20 Years Ago Today – Velvet Revolver Debut at #1 With Debut Album ‘Contraband’ (Watch Full Show Live 2004)

20 years ago today (6/26/04), Velvet Revolver, fronted by Scott Weiland and with three ex-Guns N’ Roses members in the lineup (Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum), debuts at #1 on the Billboard 100 in America with their first album, Contraband. Velvet Revolver was formed when the former GNR players combined to play at a benefit concert for drummer Randy Castillo in 2002. They then added guitarist David Kushner and then added Weiland, yet another large personality as lead singer following their earlier tenure with Axl Rose. Love em or hate em – gotta admit Velvet Revolver had that rock swagger that’s missing largely in today’s rock landscape. Check them out live in Houston in 2004, where the late Weiland proves why was one of rock’s greatest frontmen ever,,
