25 Years Ago Today – Kurt Cobain Dies at 27 (Watch Nirvana Live in Rio ’93)

25 years ago today, Kurt Cobain of Nirvana shot himself to death with a shotgun at age 27. His body isn’t discovered until three days later when an electrician enters to install an alarm. As the most commercially premier artist of the alternative music boom in the early 90’s, Nirvana’s legacy is still unrivaled today as Nevermind ranks near the top of most “Best Ever” lists. Of course, Cobain’s life was tragically cut short at age 26 in 1994, by gunshot wounds that today are still surrounded by various conspiracy theories. Let’s remember Cobain with this Nirvana live in Rio clip from early ’93….

  1. He was infamously 27 when he died how could u get that wrong? U said 26, he’s lumped into the “27” club of famous musicians who died at 27 (Janis, Jimi Hen., Jim Morrison), an article I read today interviewing a friend who hasn’t told their story until this year said one of the last things he said to Kurt was “don’t be in that stupid club”, referring to the 27 club. He was one of the last great musicians, he was pure music like so many other legends of the 20th century, they just don’t happen anymore for whatever reason. I think music really went downhill right around when Kurt/Jerry Garcia died. Kurt and nirvana could still be touring and he had so many more amazing songs to write, he was at the top of his game. In Utero was incredible. Just terrible. Drugs are horrible. Don’t F with em
