30 Years Ago Today- Primus Release Breakthrough LP ‘Sailing the Seas of Cheese’ (Watch Roskilde Festival Live ’91)

30 years ago today (5/14/91)  Primus released their major label debut (and eventual commercial breakthrough), Sailing the Seas of Cheese. The album features staple live classics “Jerry Was a Race Car Driver,” “Tommy the Cat,” and “Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers.” Tom Waits would lend vocals to “Tommy the Cat” while Les Claypool, previously an underground artist, became a bigger name with his renowned bass slapping and unique singing style. Watch Primus perform live at the Roskilde Festival in 1991, featuring a few Cheese classics.
