30 years ago today (3/1/91), director Oliver Stone’s biopic The Doors, starring Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison, opens in Los Angeles. The film focuses on the poetic brilliancy of Jim Morrison but also his tragic flaws and bigger than life persona. The film ignited a new interest in the late 60’s band, whose discography with Morrison remains one of rock’s strongest showings.
