35 years ago today (2/28/83), U2 released their highly respected third album War. Produced by Steve Lillywhite, War is considered the group’s first overtly political album with the songs “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “New Year’s Day” and the title track. Over the course of the tour, the band began to play progressively larger venues, moving from clubs to halls to arenas, soon setting the course for U2 to become one of the world’s biggest rock bands.
