40 Years Ago Today – Grateful Dead Release Fan Non-Favorite LP ‘Go To Heaven’ (Listen to “Althea”)

40 years ago today (4/28/80) The Grateful Dead released Go To Heaven, their first studio album with new keyboardist/vocalist Brent Mydland. The album contained live favorites “Feel Like A Stranger, “Althea,” and “Lost Sailor>Saint of Circumstance” yet like many Dead studio albums: they never lived up to the live versions. Nevermind the gaudy album cover with the band dressed in flashy white, which seemed a partying metaphor for their recreational activities of the time.
