40 years ago today (7/27/77), The Grateful Dead released fan favorite LP Terrapin Station, which includes a number of songs that were live favorites including the title track, “Estimated Prophet,” “Dancin’ in the Streets” and “Samson and Delilah.” As their first studio album on Arista Records and their first studio album after the band returned to live touring, following a nearly two-year hiatus, the album holds its own as one of its most listenable recordings from their studio days, following that of American Beauty and Workingman’s Dead. Since its impossible to not pass up a live version of a Dead track, let’s check out this steamin’ version of “Estimated Prophet” from 4/27/77 at the Capitol Theatre.
