40 Years Ago Today – Peter Gabriel Released Third S/T Solo Album (Melt) – (Listen “I Don’t Remember)

Although Peter Gabriel’s first three solo albums were all self-titled they all eventually ended up with one-word titles by fans based upon the album covers. Gabriel’s third album with his portrait melting on the cover was released 40 years ago today (5/30/80). Perhaps his finest solo album, the album contained two of his most known singles: Games Without Frontiers” and “Biko.” With contributions from Kate Bush, Robert Fripp, Phil Collins, Paul Weller and Tony Levin, Melt is musically adventurous, challenging, and at times damn right rhythmic.
