40 Years Ago Today – Rush Releases Iconic ‘Hemispheres’ LP (Watch “La Villa Strangiatio” Live ’78)

40 years ago today (10/29/78), Rush released perhaps their most ambitious and grueling LP Hemispheres. As the follow-up to A Farewell to Kings, Rush continued their progressive rock sound with the side long “Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres” and the nine-minute instrumental “La Villa Strangiato”. Recorded with their longtime engineer and arranger Terry Brown, Hempisheres remains top of the sound chain as one of Rush’s most important albums and the same for prog-rock.
