45 years ago today (1/23/76), David Bowie released his Station to Station LP, and in so emerged his persona as the “Thin White Duke.” This six-song album featured five songs of five minutes or more in length and featured a synthesized funk sound that reflected the drugs and glamour of the era. Station to Station is usually a regular in the top five on many a best of Bowie album lists. His follow-up, 1977’s Low, would be even more of a game-changer, yet on a song for song basis, Station to Station arguably has more punch.
