50 years ago today  (10/30/68), MC5 performed the first of two shows (Devils Night) at Detroit’s Grande Ballroom. These shows were recorded for their Kick Out the Jams debut album, which was later released in February 1969, through Elektra Records. The album is considered to be an important forerunner to punk rock music and is on the band’s resume to vie for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. Most recently, MC5 with founding member Wayne Kramer and special guests Kim Thayill, Doug Pinnick and others toured in celebration of the album’s 50th anniversary.
