53 years ago today (5/16/66), The Beach Boys released what many consider is one of the top five albums of all time – Pet Sounds. Spearheaded by Brian Wilson, who at the time was trying to make his own Rubber Soul, having retired from touring, had all the time in the world to make the studio his lab and create something unheard of at the time. Wilson revolutionized lyrical and composition arrangements, creating a hugely influential song cycle, still considered groundbreaking today.
